Dear Tim,

Thanks for the letter & disk. I fired up the program -- looks pretty neat; I look forward to trying it out when my data/fax/voice/16-bit-soundcard modem ($180) arrives next weekend. We’re also getting a color scanner, so maybe I’ll send you a copy of the info once the scanner is working (easier than driving downtown to copy store).

Well, I’ve bought out Dan’s half of the board; he got an ADAT ($2100 or so) and a $500+ microphone, and has agreed to work on my schedule now (since he isn’t depending on Red House for recording facilities). He’s also, I think, leaving some of his equipment at RH so we can still use it. It looks promising, but of course you never know with Dan...

David did in fact contact me, but by that time Dan was more or less back in the picture, so I don’t think he’s interested. O vell. Scott’s drums are back on premises, though, and I know at least one drummer with some time on his hands and the wish to play more. The Red House Board of Defectors is having a meeting tomorrow to kinda sort things out in the aftermath of Dan’s re-involvement. Oh, and Dave Frederick needed to sell the piano; I’ve paid him for half of it, and am still trying to scrounge up the other half. Perhaps I could get a better one for less, but I’m sure I can sell this one for as much if I really need to.

Get yourself a modem, fool. If you had a PC, I’d send you my old 2400 bps internal modem, assuming the new one worked; it’s fine for email. If you’re into getting a new one, though, 14.4kbps appears to be the new standard, with 28.8 as the cutting edge. I haven’t seen any faster than that. 14.4s are available for <$100 (external, so it would work with a Mac -- assuming your serial port is fast enough). Would you like a MacWarehouse catalog? (HEY -- if you’re modemless, how did you "pull this from a local bulletin board"? Suspicious minds want to know.)

Looking forward to hearing the mixes when any of them are done.

We’ve discovered one more item of clothing to return to Claire; what’s the best address to send it to?

Best from all of us,
