Staddon vs. Griever: SvsG Messages: 2002

09:27 from Lynne

Notes

As usual, I have put paragraph breaks in where Lynne put in linebreaks (no gap).

This is a very strange email. Lynne seems to be attempting to come across as "the reasonable one" in a situation where she behaved outrageously (claiming tenancy rights where she had none, and dealing with the landlord when her only tenancy relationship was as my guest), and somehow hoping to use this apparent reasonableness to gloss over our disagreements on the financial situation (see 2002-09-26 and 2002-09-27).

I am not quite sure what she means about the "typing-wait-read-typing-wait reality", though I assumed it to be a reference to her refusal to use email as a means of sorting out the financial situation.

Subject: The wicked witch from the East

Nick,

I'm surprised that we didn't hear from you yesterday regarding the insanity surrounding Rebecca's visit. I don't have alot of time to talk about it because Melanie, Peter & Beau are on their way, as I type... Thank goodness they will not be coming to Hull Rd.! I did want to mention, though, that it would be wise not to accept responsibility for issues that began between Frank Owens and Mrs. Burgess.

I talked with Livia yesterday while her mother was not in the room and it's clear that Livia is being seriously victimized by her mother and that Rebecca is looking for more victims and that you are on her list. I'm sure that although many of the assumptions Rebecca would like to heap upon you with respect to the property upon which the former Red House stands, there is little or nothing in writing to back up her unreasonable expectations. Further, there are witnesses to the contrary with respect to agreements between Frank Owens, the chicken and Mrs. Burgess.

Livia assured me that the tenants, who will be moving in on Tuesday, are aware that there are things that need to come out of the tool shed after their move in and that they are okay with that. It's all Rebecca on this and although I don't see Livia standing up to her anytime soon, I think that Livia realizes that the whole situation is unreasonable.

We should probably talk, duh... but then that's something that I've been saying for a while. I also wanted to mention that just because I've been saying it louder and louder as you continue to try to force my humanity into a "typing-wait-read-typing-wait reality" does not mean that I am your enemy and one that you have to fear. I am your friend and we have issues that need to be dealt with... I have boundaries that I'm really firm about and if I have to be a bitch about making it clear that I'm not going to give in about something, I will. That doesn't mean that I would be any less reasonable about anything else in our mutual realities. We've always had some differences of opinion from time to time and it's never been a real problem.

Although my position about the "typing-wait-read-typing-wait reality" will not change...and may cause additional friction before it's all said and done... this is just an issue about which I feel very strongly and is about a boundary that I'm drawing about how we will communicate . My goal in communication is to reach resolution. It's not even about winning or losing, here. The line that is being drawn is not _between us_ to delineate sides.

Anyway, I've got to get on with a busy, busy, day. I just wanted to let you know that I've explained to Livia, in detail, about my knowledge of agreements between Frank Owens and Mrs. Burgess that were unrelated to agreements about the house and she seemed to understand that. She was going to attempt to explain that to her mother, at that point, though I heard her mother in the background as she re-entered Livia's reality and it was clear that her mothers ears were broken. I just wanted to assure you that the leg she'd have to stand on, in court, is also broken and that just because you occasionally forget that I'm your friend... I wanted to let you know that I haven't forgotten.

My advice would be to carry on with your original plan to come and get the stuff out and not to say anything with respect to the agreements about the back property. From the moment Rebecca said the word "lawsuit" she closed the door to reasoning and offered up a platter onto which she would like to see your head. Anything you say from this point on will only help her.

Gotta go.

Lynne
