The evening of July 4, 2008, a storm came out of nowhere and kind of walloped the neighborhood. The power went out and stayed out, despite estimates that it would be back on around midnight... which later changed to "we don't know", then "5pm", then "11pm", and currently "5am tomorrow morning" as I type this. These are some pictures I took hastily the next day, with a horrible headache from the combustion fumes (memo to self: never ever run the generator with the lid to the cellar stairs closed) and before getting around to hooking up the fridge and freezer to the generator so all our food wouldn't go bad. (We'd be in deep doo-doo indeed but for the gas-powered generator we bought after the Great Freeze of 2003 or whenever it was.)

These are some pictures I took hastily the next day, with a horrible headache from the combustion fumes (memo to self: never ever run the generator with the lid to the cellar stairs closed) and before getting around to hooking up the fridge and freezer to the generator so all our food wouldn't go bad. And the microwave, so the grubs could eat. And Josh's TV and DVD player.
